Posting this a week after the fact, but...

IRON CIRCLE DEFEATED HEROIC ARGUS!

Congrats to all that were there on the first kill (March 29, 2018)! I'm hoping we can get the mount for some more guildies. A few folks have poked officers about it, and I think they're concocting something along the same lines as the Moose? I hope so, anyway.

We've only downed him once, so far. But I'm sure we'll get him on farm soon, so long as we can skip Coven. We've also only downed them once, and they are murder for us, apparently. I think I might be the only one in guild who enjoys the Coven fight.

We skipped raiding on Monday, and we struggled a bit last night just due to lack of numbers, but we're pushing back through for another full clear.

Maybe one of these days I'll get my final piece for my four piece of tier... (That's at least something I am looking forward to in Battle for Azeroth—no tier.)

Transmog and Trial of Style

Transmog and Me

This one was both "Epic Purple" and "Everyday Hero". It's Chest's consistent transmog.

I've never really gotten into transmogrification in WoW. The biggest reason is that it got introduced into the game back in November 2011—about a month before I quit playing WoW for a long period, and moved over to EVE.

Then from EVE (which does have some pretty awesome character customization, despite the lack of ever really seeing your character), I hopped over into WildStar. Even in WildStar, I didn't get too fancy with my costumes, outside of my Zatanna attempt.

WildStar has a pretty freaking stellar costuming system that a lot of games should take notes on. I hold WildStar up as the epitome of costume customization. Easy to save your current character look via copying a code string so you can come back to it. And then you can pretty much have unlimited costumes, if you're willing to buy the slots for them. Another cool feature in WildStar—if your plate wearing toon obtains some plate, you can costume it onto a non-plate wearing toon. Sold!

So when I came back to WoW, and I was interested about getting into transmog, it felt clunky and annoying compared to what I was used to. So I just kinda... didn't.

That's changed a little bit since I tried out the Trial of Style on its most recent round through town. I'm still not one hundred percent sold on transmog, but I'm a bit more willing to try to play around with it if inspiration strikes me.

Participating in the event was fun, but kind of stressful, in a way. I have a clothie (Macadamia), two mail toons (Shaelee and Hazelnutt), and a plate toon (Chestnaught) that were easy to cycle through. The leather is where I had a difficult time.

Both of my high-level leather toons are toons that I no longer play, nor plan to play, except for maybe grabbing the initial 500 Timewalking badges on occasion. They sit there, at the bottom of my character list, and I do nothing with them. So choosing one to participate in the Trial of Style was difficult.

I ended up choosing Chestnut, and using the same costume for all the competitions just to get them out of the way and get the gear, but I'm very proud of her costumes. I do need to roll up a new Druid and Monk, though, so I have leather toons. Maybe I'll make them Highmountain Tauren.

I had more fun than I thought I would at the Trial of Style. I'm still not sold on transmog overall, but I'm willing to give it a bit more of thought and start really collecting items for it.

Cutting it Close

I realize that there's only a week left in December, but I wanted to try to set a few goals for myself for the week, especially since life will be a bit lighter than usual. It'll also focus the free time I have available.

The Goals

So, here we go! What do I want to try to accomplish this last week of December?

World of Warcraft

There's a few of the holiday achievements I don't have that I'd like to work towards, however, I also don't have other stuff unlocked/obtained to work towards them (again, I've talked about it before, but if achievements are going to be account bound, they should damn well be actually account bound!!). Such as the reputation with Ogri'la, a Gaudy Sweater, a Crashin' Flyer, the Iron Armada set, etc.

• Level Arraign (Horde DK) to 90 towards "Quintessential Quintet"
• Level Chestnaught (Alliance Warrior) to 55 towards "Double Agent"
• "Crashing' & Thrashin'" achievement
• "Bros. Before Ho Ho Ho's" achievement

Nov '17 Gaming Goals Review

Last month I started back up with my gaming goals, in an effort to give myself some goals to get myself blogging again. So let's take a look at how I did with them, shall we?

She's sad that there was so little time to game as of late.

The Goals

I lacked time to game throughout November and December. Real life sort of ends up getting in the way at the end of the year. It's something I'll have to take into account for next year. Or try to remember to take into account. I always remember about it in hindsight!

World of Warcraft

There are a few achievements that I didn't even begin to touch, such as "Well Read" and "Turkey Lurkey". I worked on leveling my Death Knight towards "Quintessential Quintet", though only got her about six or seven levels. Same with leveling my dwarf towards "Double Agent". I did complete "Friend or Fowl?" because it was an easy two minute achievement.

I surprisingly ended up completing "Raiding with Leashes", mainly because I didn't need many pets to finish, and RNG was on my side. I haven't been so lucky with "Raiding with Leashes II", yet. I only grabbed myself a Menagerie Custodian, but I've been getting lots of Wolves and Custodians since, while trying to grab the Imp and Abyssal. No luck on any drops in SSC or TK.

Secret World Legends

I ended up rolling up my dragon for my new Let's Play YouTube videos, and I've been playing a bit of her, trying to build up some back log of videos. I've never played a Dragon before, and have been having some fun. So, I achieved and even surpassed my goal of just rolling her up.

I also rolled up a RP toon to try to get into RP for the first time in a very long time (in MMOs, anyway). Sadly, I haven't had much time to play her, but I'm hoping to rectify that a bit in the coming week so I can spend time gaming with folks, as well. I'm excited to get into her, though. I've a bit of a story concocted, but I need to spend a bit of time writing it up and putting it into the SWLRP mod.

Other

I ended up not touching my otomes at all, but I'm hoping to do a bit of that this coming week as well. I'll be laying out some new goals to just finish out the month of December, and then starting fresh in January with a longer, updated, list.

Raiding with Leashes

I mentioned working on this achievement in my monthly gaming goals post, and I finished it sooner than I expected, to be honest. All I had left was the Viscidus Globule, Giant Bone Spider, and Stitched Pup, and I'd finally obtain Mr. Bigglesworth (putting me one step closer to Crazy Cat Lady).. but the RNGods have never really been in my favor.

Before I did anything, I decided to see how much they were on the Auction House, because I really didn't want to trek all over on tons of different toons. However, after breaking down and getting the Viscidus Globule on the AH for 14k, I decided it was probably worth my time to just go farm the dang things. I know a lot of people won't think that 14k is a lot, and it isn't that much, but when you only have 300k gold to your name, one is kind of stingy. And at least it cut out having to trek over to AQ40 until I wanted to just get the achievement, or was working on transmog farming (which is low priority—pets first!).

I hit up Naxxramas on Chestnaught to see what I could get, and ended up with the pet from Loatheb (which I already have two of thanks to generous guildies), as well as the one off of Maexxna. Gluth was not kind to me, sadly. Nor were tier drops, for that matter. So since Naxx is so easy to get to, I'll have to make farming both normal and heroic Dreadnaught Battlegear one of my first transmog goals. Anyway, the spider is gross. I'm super afraid of even Daddy Long Legs (yes, I know they aren't spiders), so I put this guy out, took a picture, and put him right back. Blech. But at least I have him, now! And I'll level him eventually when Squirt is back on the 30th (NA realms).

So, since Gluth didn't put out for Chest, I hopped on my hunter, Hazelnutt, and decided to just hit up the Construct Quarter. She didn't get lucky either. So off to the shaman, Shaelee! Only hit up the Construct Quarter up to Gluth as well, but she surprisingly ended up getting lucky. He's cute in a kind of disgusting way. It was a bit annoying to try to run even old content as a healer, so I guess I'll have to finally bite the bullet and get my enhancement weapon on her.

And so, I have finally obtained the adorable Mr. Bigglesworth! I also ended up with pretty much every 10 Man achievement on Chest on my run through. Which, honestly, is my top pet peeve in WoW. If achievements are truly supposed to be account bound, why on earth do I not get credit on the toon if I've already completed it on another! I shouldn't be spamming guild chat with achievements I got back when it was current content when I was playing my Druid. That defeats the whole purpose, Blizzard. Fucking fix it. I don't mind if I can't get credit cross-characters for most achievements. That's fine. Whatever. But I want the credit for the ones I've done, instead of a "Not completed on XTOON." when I mouse over something.

A bit delayed, but just a quick hurrah that Iron Circle finally said buh-bye to Kil'jaeden on November 6th!

Some people are blocking other people, but I tried my best! ;P

Congrats to all that were there on our first kill, and our second kill yesterday! Hopefully we can get in another kill or two to get achievements for a few more folks in the raid team. It's exciting to have him down. It means I can start working on my gaming to do list a bit more!

Mounts Galore

It somehow became one of those weeks where I ended up with some luck and dedication and wound up with three mounts yesterday.

That Pretty Pink Bird

I've been trying to grind out Achievements and cosmetics on my new main (Chestnaught—Chestnut probably won't get played again for a long, long time) in Warcraft for the Love is in the Air event. (A side note: some of these achievements are a pain in the butt to get since most people already have them.) 

Yes, I know I technically don't need to grind them out because they are account-wide, however, the UI does not technically treat them as such, and if it's not "earned" on my main, then it doesn't count. Plus, it gives me goals to work towards and keep me interested in playing longer. After lots of grinding mobs in Everbloom this past week, I got my pretty pink bird. 

Now I just need 450 more cards to get everything I want to purchase off the vendor that I don't already have.

Speed Runs Ahoy

After purchasing my new pink bird, I started grinding out the Archaeology bi-weekly quest. Before I could finish it (because 600 is a lot of fragments), I ran a speed run of Kara with some guildies, and got lucky enough to get the mount drop off of Nightbane. We ran Attumen for the mount, and he dropped it for another guildie, which was awesome.

I still plan on running Kara even though I have the mount. One, because I like helping out guildies, and two, it's just fun.

Ghostbusters

I binged on some Netflix after Kara, a Mythic+12 and my daily heroic, and decided to try to finish out my Archaeology bi-weekly quest. I only really started doing them recently, and I'm glad I did, because this bi-weekly is a mount. And he's gorgeous.

I ended up going from about 120ish Archaeology to 466 Archaeology in the process which was pretty great. I'll get to my Archaeology achievements eventually, and get it to 800, but for now I've been trying to focus on my holiday achievements.

Lookit That Perdy Thing

Also, I have a new mount that I need to go after.

Thoughts

Life has been hectic in ways that I didn't even plan for it to be, both emotionally and with work. I still got a decent amount of things finished, all things considered, though.

WildStar stuff that isn't related to the community-at-large, or Wildcast (which I suppose is the community-at-large) have taken a bit of a wayside to everything else. Not that it's a bad thing, but I do feel kind of bad about it. I've been doing a lot of stuff related to WildStar, just most of it outside of the game, which is a weird contrast.

I finally finished out Stormheim, which I think is my least favorite out of all the zones in the Broken Isles. Which stinks, even as a Warrior. I think that might be why it was my least favorite. That you've done all this Warrior stuff, and it doesn't seem to mesh with Stormheim well. I've been trying to work my way through more of Suramar, and have slowly gotten through it (I think I hate it more than Stormheim), so I've unlocked more quests, but I really need to just finish the stupid zone.

I got farther in professions than I thought I would. I'm stuck at 765 Blacksmithing, and all of my patterns are grey. So that stinks. Archaeology feels more grindy than I remember, granted, I never got it very high on Chestnut, so that's something to aim towards on Naught. Fishing is something I've been doing to kill time, plus I really want the Legendary fishing pole! First aid is getting there, slowly. I'm hoping as I get a higher level skill that my bandages will heal for more. I've hit a rut in mining, as well. Both of my Leystone and Felstone nodes are stuck at 1 star, despite lots of farming for the quest items. I really love professions, but WoW has really screwed the pooch with them, this expansion.

As for my otomes, I haven't really gotten much done in either of them with work. I usually play them on my lunch breaks, but October didn't leave me with many of those that weren't thirty minute "hurry up and eat" breaks.

Thoughts

I tried, and got close!

Okay, so maybe some of my goals were a bit lofty with everything going on in real life.

I did get Protobucks in WildStar..,. but then I spent them on the Corgi and Fox Hoverboard combo-pack instead of Service Tokens. I mean, how can you pass up a baby Corgi named Leeloo?! Because I didn't get Service Tokens, I didn't re-rune my DPS set, so the new pieces are still sitting in my bag, waiting to be runed.

I didn't even purchase my tank set, let alone re-rune it, which is something I'm going to need to do soon, as we've hit the roster boss with school back in session, and I've been playing OT more to help out in GA.

My goal today is to finish the podcast and get it over to Avid. Woops! And I'll get to Yardcore when I get to Yardcore. I think I'll leave it as a running item until it's done.

I've been trying to catch up in WoW doing various things, but I've mainly been pulled into chain-running Mythics with guildies, so a lot of the goals I had have been sitting by the wayside. I've been trying to level fishing mainly to get the Artifact fishing pole for the water walking and the fish form to get around easier, since I don't (yet) have a water strider.

There's so much I want to do in WoW to catch up to where I need/want to be for raid, and then so much other stuff that I just want to finish, that it's almost a bit overwhelming. I do plan to run at least one Mythic+2 (maybe we'll try the +3?) today, but I'd really like to just work on professions in between the massive amount of chores, and working on Wildcast. And this coming week I'd really just like to go farm achievements in Pandaria for mounts. I might see if Feyd wants to come along for mount collecting, too, since he dragged me through a few places to try to get drops earlier this week.

As for my otomes... I've played a little bit more of Asagiri's route, and I'm enjoying it, but I'm having a hell of a time trying to get into Norn9. I think I just chose a bad combination of protag (there's three to choose from) and the love interest (the one I wanted is not unlocked, because I need to finish the other two associated with the protag first...). So I'm going to buy Sweet Fuse since it's been on my list to buy, it's fairly cheap, and Rissa has been trying to get me to play it since they found out I liked otomes and I have a Vita. Overall, though, not too bad with everything going on irl.

September Gaming Goals

I've kind of fallen off the gaming goals as I had originally intended them for many reasons. So I'm just going to continue them as a to do list for the remainder of the year as a way to keep myself focused on what I'd like to accomplish in the games I'm digging at the moment.

Talk Like a Pirate Day!

I am behind the times, and didn't know that Warcraft had a Talk Like a Pirate Day event. I don't know how I didn't know this considering how into holidays I've always been in-game, and how I completed pretty much all of them pre-Pandaria.

The first thing that alerted me to it was some guildies talking about it on Twitter

And then I had a mini fangirl moment, because Caydiem is so awesome, and how cool is it to know the story behind a random NPC?!

So after running my first two Mythics of Legion (I got four upgrades!! Thanks T, Hearn, Pezzy, and Glom!), I flew on over to Booty Bay to have a drink with Dread Captain DeMeza, and take a selfie with her. Because any self-respecting fan of Miss Caydiem has to do this!

I kinda like this helmet on Naught...

And then it was waiting on that stupid Ol' Eary for the toy drop. Luckily they'd made it a 100% chance drop rate instead of the troubles folks were having earlier in the day.

So I waited with everyone else. Fairly impatiently, for him to respawn so that I could get the toy and go to bed.

First try, he died so fast that I couldn't even get a tag in. Second time, I joined in on a raid group that formed, tagged him, hit him a good few times... and still didn't get a toy. What. The. Actual. Fuck. So, I waited around to try to hit him a third time.

It's neat looking at how many folks there are from underneath.

And, well, third time's the charm! (100% drop rate my fine looking ass...)

Final Pre-Quest Thoughts

Obviously, if you haven't started on the Legion quests, there be spoilers here!! Granted, mainly the screenshots speak for themselves.

To Karazhan

Off to Ulduar I went. I'm so glad I read the comics before going, because this made soooooo much more sense! If anything, I do have a devout dedication to my Dwarf lore in WoW. That and the Dragon Aspects.

It was amazing to go back to Ulduar, because it's my favorite raid, second only to Karazhan. Which is where I got sent next. And oh, I loved the visualization of Khadgar's story! I mean, I knew most of it, which was kindly refreshed for me via an episode of Lore Watch (I think it was this one?).

The library sequence was fun. The room brings back so many stinking memories. Being in Karazhan again, and seeing how it's changed made me super excited, especially since they've already announced that Patch 7.1 was going to bring us back there... AGAIN!

To Dalaran

I mean, there really isn't much to say about the Dalaran quest. It was mainly just Khadgar moving Dalaran over the Broken Isles.

Though it was pretty stinking cool to see all of the council working together to move it. Especially since I saw a Kalecgos in there. And I love the Dragonflights.

All in all, I think the quests were great to introduce what's going on for the folks coming back who may not know the story of Draenor (I sure as hell don't!), and for hitting the nostalgia mark for those of us around in Burning Crusade and Wrath.

Wednesday Boredom

Blaugust

This week has been busy, and I am now just getting to a place where I feel able to blog about events that I'd sort of half-ass pre-written about as they happened.

I've discovered through Blaugust, that even when I have the best of intentions and put together thoughts/images in a post as pre-writing, I don't always get back to it in a timely manner if I'm feeling overwhelmed, or that I just need downtime. Which isn't a bad thing to discover about my blogging habits.

Heck, blogging 2-3 times a week isn't a bad goal to keep towards, especially with my busy schedule. It feels manageable, and like it's something I can continue to do. And if I post more, cool! If I barely get two posts in... well, that's cool, too!

When One Doesn't Raid

This week was a weird one. Monday, I don't even remember what I did! I don't think I was able to really settle into playing a game. I think I hopped into both WoW and WildStar for a bit, but I wasn't really feeling either. I do remember hanging out in TeamSpeak with folks and just shooting the breeze.

Tuesday I had a hair appointment which took longer than expected (it's normally two and a half to three hours, but it's DragonCon time here, so she was booked solid and it took me four hours to get my hair colored), so I didn't really sign on for Legion. Which was fine—I expected things to be buggy and laggy and stuff, so I hopped into WildStar for a bit to get my T3 contract done.

Wednesday was raid night in WildStar... but we didn't have enough folks to raid. So instead... well, we had shenanigans. A picture is worth a thousand words...

We eventually ran some dungeon groups, but it was fun sitting in TeamSpeak for over an hour joking around and talking and making a Snarfelynx line on the wall and showing it off to Caydiem. Goes to show that sometimes, you really don't need the game to have content for you and that you can make your own.

August Gaming To Do List

She seems a bit overwhelmed...

Yeah, I know it's Saturday, and August ends on Wednesday. But Legion is out on Tuesday, and there's gaming things I want to try to finish before that happens. I'm not going to pressure myself, but here's the list of things I want to try to get done in (mainly) WoW before Tuesday is here.

WildStar

• Finish the pre-quest for Redmoon Terror (I need that mount before it's gone!!)
• Finish re-runing all the new DPS gear that unlocked with the RMT changes (Tank can wait until September)
• Get the birthday presents for the folks I'm getting them for
• Finish Wildcast (I'll give myself until Wednesday for this one)

WoW

Psyn and Fyn have this awesome spreadsheet they've been using to prep for Legion, and they let me steal it, so I've been using that to help organize what I feel I can accomplish via invasions.

• Level mining on the Naught (hopefully hit 700, but we'll see how far I get...)
• Level cooking on the Naught (again, hopefully 700)
• Level first aid on the Naught (see above)
• Level fishing on the Naught (see above)
• Do a few invasions on the Nut for some gear for her
• Get paladin to 80 (Invasions!)
• Get hunter to 80 (Invasions!)
• Get rogue to 80 (Invasions!)
• Get mage to 40 (Invasions!)
• Get warlock to 40 (Invasions!)
• Run some achievement runs in Wrath and Cataclysm with Chaide (because once Legion hits that'll be total backburner for a long while!)

Blaugust Update

I like the new schedule I set for myself. However, last week I only got in one post, when I meant to at least get in two. This post was slated to be posted over the weekend, and then I just never got to it because I was editing the podcast (which I plan to finish as soon as this is posted!), adulting, and spending what little time I had left relaxing over in WildStar. My goal this week is to try to make my three days for at least once. We shall see, though.

Moooooose!

I've been trying to find a #FriendshipMoose run for weeks with no luck. Oh, I've sat in Twitch and such and chatted and raffled and attempted to get in, but lady luck was never on my side.

Last week, though, T and Hearn decided to put some Moose runs together for Iron Circle folks who didn't have it yet, and the guild carried one or two folks per run. I feel so blessed to be a part of such an amazing guild that does things for each other like this. I mean, I would've understood if I couldn't've gotten a Moose, despite how much I wanted one.

But that all those folks went out of their way to do that for guildies just makes me feel really good to be back in WoW and over with Iron Circle (and kind of silly for not joining them sooner... five years ago!).

Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher

Speaking of mounts, Chaide and I were missing two or three achievements for our Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher, so we knocked those out one weekend, and now we have both mounts! There's so many mounts for me to go collect, now. Especially since I got so lucky with Mimiron's Head on my birthday weekend. I just feel motivated again to go collect them and the achievements in the older content that I'm missing. Of course, now it'll have to wait until after I hit 110.

Blaugust Update

Missy over at Ancient Mana has similar thoughts to myself on Blaugust—I'm not doing so hot at the schedule I picked out for myself, but it is getting me back into blogging again (despite busy work schedules), and I feel like I'm slowly starting to slip into the groove of blogging three times a week. So far, if I keep a Sunday to Saturday schedule, I've posted twice in week one, once in week two, and once so far in week three.

Honestly, I think I'm just going to follow a Monday to Sunday schedule instead for posts, as it's easier based on how my planner is laid out (which I will totally be covering later this week thanks to inspiration from Jae!). If I follow a Monday to Sunday schedule, so far I've posted twice for both the first and second week, and this will be my first post for week three, leaving me three more days to post my next two Blaugust posts, which feels much less stress-inducing than having only two days for two posts.

TL;DR - I'm changing my posting schedule to Monday to Sunday instead of Sunday to Saturday. Based on this change, I've made 2 of 3 posts for both the first and second week.

Those Cutscenes, Though

First, the obligatory warning, because I don't plan on holding back (especially since the first week is over)...

I was wary when I picked up the first quest for the Invasion lead in. Blizz has this way of either doing it right or doing it wrong, without a lot of "meh" in between. I mean, there is some, but it's usually toward one end of the spectrum or the other. I was also kind of worried because I don't know much of the story outside of a few big points here and there from Pandaria and Warlords (though I do plan to go back and do all the content to catch up on my lore!).

But man oh man. Blizz blew it out of the water this time with the lead-in quest (I have yet to pick up the second one, though it's on my list of things to do before the weekend). While I didn't necessarily understand a few bits here and there of what was going on, it didn't get in the way of me overall enjoying the plot of the Invasion lead ins.

And the plot... The plot. I'm a total sap and I cried like a baby, starting at about, oh, here...

From that point onward, I was a mess of emotions. I cried when Wrynn died. I cried when Vol'jin died. I cried at the whole scene where Sylvanas is like, "WTF OMG..." (that scene was really powerful for me, and even though I kind of saw it coming). I cried a lot. A whole bunch. So good game, Blizz. I hope you can evoke more feelings so that I feel invested in the story and how the raids tie in (which I hear Pandaria did really well, but I have yet to experience it).

Warrior Fun

I've really been enjoying my new Warrior main. Honestly, I kind of like her better than the Druid, especially after how they changed up Guardians. I like the mobility of the Warrior compared to the Druid, and I feel like I have an easier time recovering after "oh shit" moments. I've even been having fun playing her in PvP. And I got to tank an alt run of HFC as well as a boss or two in Heroic HFC, which was lots of fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how she'll play in Legion!
